How can we accurately identify India's progress on the Millennium Development Goals?
In anticipation of the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals day, Athena completed a briefing to assess India's progress on Goals 2, 3, 4, and 5 over the last 14 years. This included universal primary education, promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment, reduction of child mortality and improving maternal health. It presented a briefing report using simple coded visuals, highlighting within country inequalities and predicting achievements of each goal. It also looked at relevant issues which affect the pace of progress and the financial aspect (resource allocation). In addition to this, it assessed the post-2015 development agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), presenting recommendations for key stakeholders.
