Athena Infonomics is working with the WASH Institute—an India-based non-profit that provides technical, training, research, and development services related to WASH and environmental issues—to conduct a midterm evaluation of its faecal sludge and septage management (FSSM) skill-development programme.

The three-year, USAID-funded programme—which involves a series of in-class and online FSSM capacity-building trainings and certificate courses across India—aims to yield an increase in the number of skilled professionals in the WASH sector at the state, city, and town level across the country.

The WASH Institute and Athena will analyze if the programme is heading in the right direction by: identifying factors affecting programme implementation; evaluating the status of the programme with regards to its outputs and outcomes; identifying areas of improvement; assessing the impact of the programme thus far; and reviewing its overall capacity-building methodology.
